About Puerto Vallarta
Welcome to one of the most beautiful areas in the world: Puerto Vallarta on the Bay of Banderas. It is an area with a great abundance of natural features: an ideal climate, an enormous blue bay surrounded by jungled mountains that plunge directly into the sea and an environment that supports an extraordinary range of flora and fauna.
Today, the area's features are both natural and man-made. About 300,000 people now live in or near Puerto Vallarta, a dramatic increase from the early 1960's when the film "The Night of the Iguana" was filmed near a quiet fishing village that then had fewer than 5,000 people.
While every destination in México has something to offer the visitor, Puerto Vallarta has everything: beaches, traditional Mexican village atmosphere, great dining, good entertainment, excellent shopping, activities galore, and fun! All of this is available at moderate to low prices. A new pre-Colombian site has been discovered and excavations begun in Ixtapa, a few miles north of Puerto Vallarta.
Importantly, Puerto Vallarta is continuously improving to provide better experience to visitors. An Airport terminal expansion has recently been completed. The four lane road connecting the airport and the town has been lined with palms trees. A new sewer and water supply network has been installed to improve the quality. The cobblestone streets have been renovated and enhanced to concrete for better permanence.
The local ecology has always been on top priority in Puerto Vallarta. Beaches and bays of are regularly cleaned and the cleanup is tightly scheduled. A turtle protection project is also initiated. All this steps and other active efforts are taken to preserve the natural beauty of Puerto Vallarta.
The people of Puerto Vallarta sincerely believe that their town delivers a higher degree of overall visitor satisfaction than any other destination in México. Surveys find that several visitors are nothing less than enthusiastic about Vallarta's unique ambiance and well developed (and still developing) tourism attractions.
