Vista Vallarta Golf Course
By Jack Nicklaus (7,057 yards, par 72) has garnered worldwide recognition since hosting the 2002 EMC World Cup Championship and the Weiskopf course (7,153 yards, par 72) is equally outstanding. Both have generous landing areas on the fairways, but the undulating greens can be tortuous.
The Marina Vallarta Golf Club
With 18 championship holes, (6,701 yards, par 71) was designed by architect, Joe Finger. It has twice been the site of the Governor's Cup Pro/Am Tournament. The facilities include a driving range and chipping putting green, golf shop and a full-service clubhouse. Most of the fairways are lined with palm trees and guarded by water.
El Tigre Golf Club
"Create the most exciting championship golf course in Mexico”, was the challenge given to the team of Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril, designers of over 200 of the world’s finest golf courses. The result … a 7,239 yard masterpiece.
The memorable experience begins upon arrival at the Club, as golfers pass through an impressive stone archway resembling a Mayan temple, beside which a real Bengal tiger lives securely in his habitat. Further in, the 45,000 sq. ft. clubhouse sits perched in the heart of EL TIGRE offering spectacular views in all directions.
Four Seasons Golf Club Punta Mita
Set on a natural rock outcropping known as a site for whale watching, the signature island hole, "The Tail of the Whale," features the added challenge of an oceanside tee on the beach, with an undulating green designed in the shape of a whale's tail, situated 199 yards off the coast. A tee box is based on the mainland, while the putting green is set on the idyllic natural offshore island.
Developed with careful environmental planning, the facility features a maxi four-system computerized weather station to monitor ground moisture, helping to conserve water by irrigating greens and fairways only when needed. Environmentally safe organic fertilizers are used in place of chemicals, employing little or no herbicides or insecticides, with only biodegradable insecticides used on greens bordering the ocean. Natural vegetation, including 26 acres of native grasses, has been preserved in and around the course. While 13 acres are sodded, the remaining area will be sprigged using an on-site nursery.
Greens are designed to USGA standards, consisting of four inches of gravel and a foot of mixed sand and field moss. Champion-Dwarf Bermuda is used on the greens, with Bermuda T-419 used on the fairways, tees, and in the roughs.
Flamingos Golf Club
The course has 18 championships holes designed by Percy Clifford creator of some of Mexico's top courses. Golfers of all skill levels appreciate Flamingos because it is challenging and fair. In addition to this design, the course is also set apart from others in the area due to its beautiful rolling hill terrain, lush tropical forest and natural lagoons and mangroves.
